Trip Summary

This 12 day trip takes you to the world famous Masai Mara National Reserve. You will also get to visit Tanzanian Serengeti National Park, which has the greatest population of wild animals in the whole of Africa. You will have plenty of game viewing in Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Amboseli.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and assisted by Vessel Africa Representative. After a brief introduction, you will be transferred to the Nairobi Serena Hotel.

 

Day 2: Nairobi - Masai Mara

After breakfast, depart for the world famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Arrive at your lodge for check-in and have lunch. The lodge blends in perfectly with its surrounding hillside landscape. The accent here is on the Masai people and the wealth of wildlife, birdlife, and natural flora to be found in the fabled Masai Mara Game Reserve. Enjoy an afternoon game drive around the world famous Mara. Dinner and overnight stay at the Mara Serena Safari Lodge.

 

Day 3: Masai Mara

Full day spent in the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. All meals and overnight stay at theMara Serena Safari Lodge Masai Mara offers an absolutely unique variety of animals. The reason is that this hilly region is both humid and fertile, and is crossed by the Mara and Talek rivers, full of crocodiles and hippos. The abundance of water and excellent availability of food are the reasons why the Masai Mara, which in fact is a continuation of the Tanzanian Serengeti National Park, has the greatest population of wild animals in the whole of Africa. There is a particularly dramatic “spectacle” from July to November, the annual migration of huge herds of Gnus and zebras. Predators such as Hyenas, Jackals, Leopards and Lions of course, closely follow these herds. Gigantic herds of over 200 buffaloes can also be observed. Plenty of food is available for elephants, giraffes, and the many species of antelopes.

OPTIONAL: (hot air balloon taking off in the beautiful early morning, you drift above the browsing game and have tremendous opportunities for unusual photographs. What could be more uplifting than an early morning safari in a hot air balloon flying over the vast plains of Africa? Witness an African sunrise as a plethora of wildlife roam the land beneath you. At the end of the flight you land on the plains, in the midst of this enchanting savannah a champagne breakfast is laid out with the mouth watering aroma of sausages, eggs, and bacon, sizzling over a charcoal fire. Drive in a leisurely fashion with game viewing on your way back to your camp).

 

Day 4: Mara - Speke

Have breakfast at the lodge and depart with picnic lunch for Isebania “the Kenya – Tanzania Border”. On immigration clearance a change of vehicles will be done. Proceed to your lodge where you will check in and spend the rest of the evening at leisure followed by your overnight at the Speke Bay Lodge.

 

Day 5: Speke - Serengeti

After breakfast depart for Serengeti National Park where you will check in and later have lunch, afterwards you will depart for an afternoon game drive where you will have a chance to view a largest concentration of plain animals up to - 4 million; and 500 species of birds. Your chance to see predators chasing their prey and enjoying their kill will be high. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge which affords endless views over the Serengeti plains, the design and construction merging into surrounding landscape. It is built in a traditional African village fashion.

 

Day 6: Serengeti

You will spend a full day in Serengeti with morning and afternoon game drives. Meals and overnight stay at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge.

OPTIONAL: (hot air balloon safari, commencing with a pre-dawn pick up from your lodge, proceed with your hot-air balloon at dawn for a breathtaking flight. As you float over the plains in the increasing light, the pilot will take you up to at least 1,000 foot altitude for a breathtaking panoramic view of the plains. Much of the remainder of the flight will be at a tree-top or even grass-top level for some close up views of the wildlife, flora and fauna below. On landing, you are met by the ground support team with a bottle of champagne. Then it’s off to the breakfast table, which will have been set up under a fine umbrella tree close to the landing spot. You are served a full cooked English breakfast with some tropical additions - a fine spread served on bone china with silver cutlery and crystal glasses. Return to your lodge while game viewing on the way all through).

 

Day 7: Serengeti - Ngorongoro

After breakfast your drive takes you to Ngorongoro via Olduvai Gorge, site of archeological findings, where traces of pre-historic man dating back to 3.5 million years ago have been discovered. Lunch will be at you lodge which is constructed of local stone and is exquisitely molded into the contours of its site. From the lodge one can experience breathtaking view of the 260 sq. km crater beneath and of the wealth of the surrounding animal and bird life. After lunch, you will spend the afternoon at leisure enjoying the lodge’s facilities. Dinner and overnight will be at the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge.

 

Day 8: Ngorongoro

After breakfast, full day game viewing in Ngorongoro Crater with picnic lunch. Here you can see a spectacular concentration of wildlife, including the big five. Drive across the dense forest and near the soda lake and enjoy viewing a variety of birdlife. Ascend to the lodge from the 2000ft. deep crater. Dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge.

 

Day 9: Ngorongoro - Lake Manyara

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara where you will check in your hotel and later have lunch. Today you will depart for an afternoon game drive in search of wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge which has a dramatic setting overlooking, the Great Rift Valley and the beautiful Soda Lake of Manyara and the park. On your afternoon game drive you will observe many large colorful birds flying in circles and spirals. The unique hotels mix of geometric and traditional style was inspired by the abundant birdlife. Lake Manyara National Park is famous for its tree-climbing lions and a variety of habitats and diverse animals also you will witness a large flock of flamingoes descending on Lake Manyara.

 

Day 10: Lake Manyara – Amboseli

After breakfast depart for Namanga the “Kenya – Tanzania” Border. On immigration clearance a change of vehicles will be done. Drive through the rugged landscape of the Kenyan plains to the Amboseli National Park situated in the north at the foot hills of Mont Kilimanjaro (19430ft) the highest Mountain in Africa. Amboseli is famous for its vast herds of elephants and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Be sure to have your camera ready this afternoon game drive in search of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and much more, lunch will be served at the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at the Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge.

 

Day 11: Amboseli

You will spend a full day in Amboseli with morning and afternoon game drives. Meals and overnight stay at the Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge to the 392 sq km Amboseli National Park lies due south of Nairobi, within clear sight of Mt Kilimanjaro. The waters of the mountain feed the seasonal swamps and marshes on which the game and birds, which live in the park, rely. It is here that photographers will hope to shoot the classic picture of the elephant or giraffe standing against the dramatic backdrop of the snow capped mountain.

 

Day 12: Amboseli - Nairobi (Departure)

Have breakfast at the lodge and depart for Nairobi. Kenyans most colorful city, from here you will proceed to the famous Carnivore Restaurant for a mouth watering barbeque lunch. Later on you will be transferred to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
